It’s that time of year…

I’ve reached that point of winter where I’m tired of it and I want it to go away because I’ve really stopped handling much of anything well. And I have that certain vindictive pleasure when the snow starts melting…but then it comes back and brings ice with it. Such a tease. Ryan called me today to tell me he dumped milk on his laptop. I hope it doesn’t mess up too much. It isn’t pop or sugary coffee, so I think if he cleans it up it should be alright. He said it would turn on, so I’m not sure just how much milk he dumped on it. I got the audiobook for ‘I Am Legend’ last week. I listened to it and at the end I found it was abridged. I don’t like the idea of abridging a book. Tonight I picked up the paperback and I was flipping through it, apparently whoever made the abridged version assumed that the story would be just as good by removing three quarters of it. Meh. So now I own a copy even if it does have Will Smith on the front. My Christmas present from Ryan should be here any day now and I’m very excited about that. Anyway, no pictures today. I should have some this weekend though.

Winter in Ohio…

Sunday it was around 60 degrees with wind gusts up to 50 mph. Today it was around 30 degrees. In this 30 degree atmosphere the weather couldn’t decide if it wanted to be sunny/sleet/snow/rain/etc. I went to Cincinnati today and when I got home this afternoon it was sunny, but cold. You could see the grass. I put Gurney out and about ten minutes later I looked out and saw this:

Snow!

Yeah. I’m ready for spring. After a not so great meeting at the church for the building committee I came home and made 6 dozen cookies for the donor center to staunch my irritation.

I now need to write a couple notes, package up Valentine’s Day presents (and no, this is not my fault it is a week late, I didn’t know they were traveling last week and I didn’t want cookies to sit over the weekend). Also of note: Gurney went to the veterinarian today for distemper and kennel cough. Their scales say he has put on two pounds since two months ago. That’s good. His ribs aren’t as obtrusive as normal. Apparently fast food is good for something-even if your 8 year old cousin is incredulous that you take the dog to Wendy’s for fries and chicken nuggets.

On the couch…

is where I spent my day. Anyone who knows me should recognize that something is wrong there. I don’t sit still and do nothing well. I’m pretty sure I just have a cold, but it has kicked my butt. I feel better now, but I did rest all day, so I would hope I would. While on the couch though I browsed the internet. I would’ve played WoW all day long, but the servers were down til three pm. In the meantime I found this site:

Swap-Bot

Hrm well, like I needed more to do, but I am now signed up for five swaps.
1. An email dessert recipe swap
2. A bookmark swap
3. A birthday card swap (3 for women, 3 for men)
4. A blank card swap
5. A handmade needlebook swap

Those shouldn’t require as much work as the dollhouse swaps I do though…at least I hope.

A new theme!

It’s all pink and red and February-ish. Maybe a little over the top, but it is fun for a short while. It’s only 10:40 on a Saturday morning and Gurney is driving me insane. I’ve spent a good deal of the morning yelling at him to stop whatever he is doing, but he doesn’t care, he thinks it is all in good fun. Oooh, if Ryan were home…then he’d listen. He is stir crazy with the weather and being inside. I haven’t taken him in the car anywhere because it is too cold to leave him in it while I run errands, and I haven’t left him outside for long periods of time because it has been so cold and icy. That added with the neighbor’s new chihuahua that they can’t control… That’s ticking me off. The thing is hardly bigger than two potatoes, if you let that get away from you, you have no business having a dog. So with the new one and their old one running around, Gurney along with all of the other large dogs around are being driven crazy. This weekend I have a to do list. Not all of them are household related things, i.e. one was to redo the theme on the website, and that is done. Some are miniature related. I need some grain of wheat bulbs, but I can’t find a local source for them unless Busy Beaver has some, but that ‘local’ is an hour away. If I run up there I might take Gurney with me…I could leave the car on there and he’d be within sight. Edit: I forgot to post this before I left the house this morning, I brought up my website to show mom the new design and my new post wasn’t here. Luckily, wordpress saves drafts. Gurney and I will shortly be on our way to Dayton.
